The last travel trip I went on was to Adelaide, known as the city of churches. The city was beautiful. Every block had an old church on the corner with gardens around it. The city center is surrounded by city parks and has gardens inside the city as well. It was a beautiful town with charming people.
The first day I was there I walked all around the city and then went to one of the surrounding parks. I bought some gelato and strolled around the gardens taking in the sun. I was feeling tired from my 6am flight that morning so I took a nap in one of the parks. That night I went out to dinner at a lovely Chinese place where I enjoyed some amazing noodles.
The next day I took a tour to Kangaroo Island. It was a long day but I enjoyed it all. The first place we went to was a Eucalyptus store, where the owners take Eucalyptus oil and make lotions, chap stick, and other home remedies. After that we went to one of the beach on Kangaroo Island where there are multiple seals that lay and run around on the beach. The baby seals were so cute! The next stop was lunch. We had a nice Aussie BBQ lunch where kangaroos jumped all around the place where we ate. After that we went to Koala sanctuary and saw many sleeping Koalas up in the trees. Then we drove all through the National Park on our way to the Remarkable Rocks. The rocks were truly remarkable. They were made from a volcano in the area many years ago. They were cool and seeing then at sunset was even greater. While on my trip I met another American girl who was also studying at the University of Melbourne. I also met an ADPi who is the Social Adviser at the University of Miami-Ohio. She was really nice and it was awesome to finally meet another ADPi in Australia.
The next day I went with Megan, the girl studying aboard at Melbourne Uni, and her friend that was also with her in Adelaide on a city and winery tour of the area. The first stop was a local chocolate shop. We toured the chocolate making factory and get some free samples. It was some of the best chocolate I have even had!! After that we went to a city called Hamburg. It is a little cute German town outside Adelaide. Then we went to Mount Lofty the tallest mountain (more like a hill) in Adelaide. Even though the weather wasn’t the best the lookout was still amazing. Then was the best part, the winery tour. We went to three different wineries and tasted a variety of wines. We started with whites and then went to reds. After reds we tasted ports. It was interesting tasting all the different wines and learning about how they make all the different types and flavors. That night after we got back we went and had dinner at a pizza place in Adelaide.
My time in Adelaide was great. I was such a nice small little town in South Australia. After that trip I have been to 5 out of the 7 states in Australia. The only ones I haven’t visited are the Northern Territory and Eastern Australia. I will just have to save those for when I come back some day!!
Finals have finally started here. I am officially done with two of my classes and I have two more to go. I can’t believe that I have less than 20 days left in Australia. My time here has been truly amazing and I am so glad I have decided to study abroad. The many memories and experiences that I have from this experience will last a life time.
I will see you 18 days America.
